What is Arnica, or Arnica Montana?

Arnica or Arnica Montana is a wild plant in the sunflower family that grows on Mountains and hillsides in the Northwest United States, and in many other places in the world. It has a bright yellow flower that blooms in the spring and early summer and has been used medicinally for hundreds of years for it's anti-inflammatory properties to treat injuries, sprains and bruises. Almost all of the plant is usable, flowers, stems, and roots. It is primarily used for pain medications in various forms, Arnica Oil, Arnica Gel, Arnica Rub etc. Arnica should only be used externally.*

How does Arnica work to relieve pain and help heal?

Wild Arnica Montana flowers containe sesqueterpine lactones, specifically the compound helenelin, which contributes to it's anti-inflammatory properties. When an injury and overexertion occurs the body floods the affected area with blood and fluids which causes swelling and inflammation. Arnica Oil applied to the site of the injury slows down this process, and helps increase the flow of blood in the area which aids in removing toxins and wastes, reducing swelling, pain and helps the body heal more quickly. Once the pain is reduced natural movement is possible which also brings more blood to the injured, overworked area. Arnica is also naturally antibacterial and anti microbial so it is particularly effective at preventing infection from skin injuries at the same time providing relief from pain, and swelling from inflammation. These qualities also make Arnica Oil effective for sun burn, and insect bites.*

Why is Sopeshop Arnica Oil infused in Jojoba Oil?

Jojoba is not actually an oil but more like a wax and is the compound most molecularly similar to human sebum, the oil that skin produces. It is used worldwide in high quality hair and skin care products. The skin recognizes Jojoba to be like itself and quickly absorbs Jojoba into the skin and even causes the skin to produce less sebum, so the skin doesn't feel greasy or oily. This also makes Jojoba a very good carrier oil for treatments for the skin and muscles. Jojoba is also anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial and contains vitamins A, B1, B2, B6 and E which are very nourishing for the skin. Jojoba is very moisturizing and helps with general skin ailments, including acne, sunburn and insect bites. It is really a wonder. Most Arnica Oils on the market are infused in Olive Oil. Jojoba is more expensive, but it does a much better job of getting the Arnica where you need it, into your skin.

How is Arnica Oil made?

Arnica Montana flowers are ecologically and sustainably harvested from the forests of northwest Montana near Glacier National Park. The Arnica flowers are then air dried. Dried flowers are infused in expeller pressed Jojoba Oil for about a month using the cold infusion method. No heat is applied to speed up the infusion. The infused oil is then poured off and strained. This is the oil which is then bottled for use. The oil is not diluted.

How to Use:

Arnica Oil from Sopeshop is packaged with a handy roller ball applicator. Just apply a small amount of Arnica Oil directly on the affected area and massage into the skin. Repeat as necessary. Because the Arnica Oil is concentrated it isn't necessary to use much, and the roller ball makes it possible to apply very small amounts, which makes it last much longer.

Caution:

For External use only. Do not use on broken skin. Keep out of reach of children.

Ingredients:

Wild Montana Arnica flowers infused in Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E.
